THE BEST DENIM FOR YOUR CURVES

The mid-rise distressed skinny, my absolute favorite! I did not know how light wash denim would look on my figure, but I was pleasantly surprised with just how much I loved these jeans. I rolled up the ankles and topped off this outfit with these ankle boots.

I loved trying this mid-rise straight leg denim because I usually wear skinny jeans and try to stay away from any kind of loose fitting denim. However, these jeans were versatile and comfortable. I also loved the color of the wash on this pair!

True blue: With all of the variations of denim circling around the fashion world these days, I forget the true blues of denim. This pair of mid-rise jeggings brought back that blue hue and looked so vibrant, while feeling oh so comfortable.

I have always been a dark denim girl, so when I saw these high-rise jeggings, I could not resist. I love the pressed detail on the thighs, which give the pair some variety and over all contribute to an alternative look.

Apparently, I am not the only girl who struggles when it comes to finding the right fit, style or color of denim that best fits my body. According to a recent study conducted by Target, more than half of women have difficulty finding jeans that complement their body or make them feel confident.

You are probably wondering why I titled this post "No Apologies" and not something similar to mixing the names of two patterns together or throwing a color on the title line—the things I typically do.

When I put this outfit on, one of my friends jokingly said, "Can you put some more clothes on?!" While I know that they were not making the remark because of my weight, that was the first thing my mind jumped to. Someone else near and dear to my heart hates the "high-waist" trend. Of course, I am not naming any names because I love these people and I know that they aren't trying to purposely put me down. However, there are people who tell us—curvy/thick/fat/full figured/plus size women—that we can't rock certain trends or that we shouldn't be showing as much skin as this, with the intention of putting us down. For example, a recent article in O, The Oprah Magazine, a reader asked a fashion stylist or an editorial staff member at the magazine whether or not she could pull off a crop top. The stylist's response was, "If (and only if!) you have a flat tummy." WRONG. WRONG. AND WRONG, again. The only way a person can't wear a crop top is if they literally aren't wearing one....BOOM. How's that for some fashion advice?

Yes, we dress to impress other people or to create a certain image, but how many times do we dress to be comfortable or dress for ourselves? How many times have we put back that cute top that we love because someone said, "Are you really going to wear that?" I know I have, many times, in fact, more times than I have dressed the way I wanted to dress.

So, guess what? I LOVE this outfit and I am not apologizing. No, I did not go change when my friend made the remark, I walked out the door and I felt amazing.

I love taking this white tank top and tying it in a knot to show off my tummy. I love my figure and how it looks when I pair a cropped top and a high-waist maxi skirt.

When I wear outfits like this, will people look at me, questioning my outfit choice for my body type? Sure. But what I have realized is that some people will admire me for taking risks and hopefully they say, "Good for her." It takes courage and major guts to show off your curves when you have been told to hide them your whole life by the media, friends, family, haters and the fashion industry.

So, next time you take that crop top out of the closet and think, "Maybe I shouldn't wear this." YOU SHOULD ABSOLUTELY WEAR IT. The next time you walk past someone who is dressed differently or in a way that surprises you, say, "Good for them." The next time anyone questions you, ignore them and keep doing your thing. No apologies necessary.

It's an amazing time to be plus size, so revel in it. The only way we can broaden the acceptance of our bodies is to keep pushing the limits and boundaries that have been cast upon us for years. And hopefully, while we are pushing and striving for better, we inspire young girls, women, and others to love themselves as well.
